  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil for searing
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (for naan)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for cooking)
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté onion until translucent, then add garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Brown the beef cubes in the pot, then stir in spices including curry powder, cumin, and coriander.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, coconut milk, and tomato paste. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Cover and let it simmer on low for about 3 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. For the naan, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, yogurt, and warm milk. Knead briefly.
  6. Shape naan into discs and cook in a skillet with melted butter until golden brown.
